Bottineau teen killed in crash near Upham

UPHAM – A Bottineau teen was killed in a three-vehicle crash Friday near Upham, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The Highway Patrol reported a 2006 Freightliner semi-truck was disabled on the westbound shoulder and partially in the roadway on 80th Street North, just east of the intersection with 17th Avenue North, about 10 miles west of Upham at 11:45 p.m. The Freightliner had its rear lights activated and emergency triangles placed at the rear of the vehicle.

A 2008 Ram was parked nose-to-nose in front of the Freightliner as its occupants attempted to repair the disabled semi.

A 2002 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling westbound on 80th Street North when it collided with the rear of the semi-trailer combination. The driver of the Chevrolet, a 19-year-old male from Bottineau was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Freightliner was unoccupied. The driver of the Dodge Ram, a 56-year-old Minot man, and passenger, a 48-year-old Minot man, were not injured, the Highway Patrol reported.

The Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
