Alzheimer’s Association to offer free presentations

MADDOCK – The Alzheimer’s Association will offer two free, virtual presentations for the public in September.

“The Empowered Caregiver: Communicating Effectively” will be offered Wednesday, Sept. 10, from noon-1 p.m.

This class is designed to increase caregiver confidence while reducing stress. It offers helpful ways to approach the responsibilities of caring for someone living with dementia using a person-centered approach. It teaches how dementia affects communication, including tips for communicating well with family, friends and health-care professionals.

A presentation titled “10 Warning Signs” will take place Thursday, Sept. 11, from noon-1 p.m.

Learn how to recognize common dementia warning signs, how to approach someone about memory concerns, the importance of early detection, benefits of a diagnosis, possible tests and assessments for the diagnostic process and Alzheimer’s Association resources.

Contact the Alzheimer’s Association Minnesota-North Dakota chapter to register for either presentation. This project is funded through the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services, Adult and Aging Services Section.

Starting at $2.99/week.
