Two injured when vehicle strikes tree

Hensler – A Minot man and a male juvenile were injured when the vehicle they were in struck a tree in Cross Ranch State Park near Hensler in Oliver County.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, on July 27 about 2:48 p.m., a 2008 GMC Yukon driven by the 47-year-old Minot man was traveling north through the park when the vehicle accelerated and struck a tree head on. The driver sustained minor injuries, and the juvenile passenger sustained serious injuries. Both were taken to a Bismarck hospital.

Both were not wearing seat belts, according to the Highway Patrol.

The Highway Patrol also reported the driver was charged with DUI with a minor, a Class A misdemeanor; reckless endangerment-extreme indifference and child neglect, both Class C felonies; and no proof of liability insurance-moving violation. The driver’s name has not yet been released.

The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
