Minot YMCA closes after flooding
The Minot Family YMCA is closed until further notice due to flooding caused by a burst pipe Friday evening, according to a statement from the organization.
The statement said the facility experienced significant flooding due to a burst fire suppression main causing water and mud to flow into the building, reaching up to 5-6 inches in the deepest areas.
The statement described the damage as extensive. Areas impacted by the flooding included the main hallway, gyms, locker rooms, child watch, racquetball courts, multiple storage and equipment rooms. The facility’s phones are offline, and its media/tech room was also affected, impacting its internet and internal servers.
The YMCA is working with Servpro to assess the damage and begin cleanup.
All programs held within the facility are also canceled or are being held in alternate locations. Child Watch, group and private swim lessons, group fitness classes, CrossFit and personal training have all been canceled. Kinder Camp and day camp have been relocated to Roosevelt Park Zoo, with drop off and pick up at the zoo Admissions Building.
