Minot man sentenced for felony charges
A Minot man has been sentenced Friday to serve 18 months after pleading guilty to felony charges for possession of narcotics with intent to distribute.
Harley Joe Peltier, 30, Minot, entered his change of plea as a part of a plea agreement in North Central District Court on Friday, pleading guilty to one Class B felony count of possession with intent to deliver-methamphetamine and possession of controlled substance-fentanyl-second offense, a Class C felony. Two Class felony counts of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia-second offense and maintaining a premises or property for the use, storage or sale of controlled substances were dismissed in accordance with the plea agreement.
According to court documents, the charges against Peltier stemmed from the execution of a search warrant at a room in a north Minot hotel by the Ward County Narcotics Task Force on March 19.
The investigation into Peltier commenced after complaints were made regarding traffic to and from his room at the hotel. Investigators eventually acquired communications implicating Peltier in the distribution of methamphetamine. The search of the room discovered methamphetamine, fentanyl pills and a variety of drug and distribution paraphernalia.
For the first count, Judge Stacey Louser sentenced Peltier to serve 10 years with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, with all but 18 months suspended. He was given credit for 101 days already served, and ordered to complete three years of supervised probation. He was also assessed $775 in court fines and fees.
Louser sentenced Peltier to serve five years with the DOCR for the second count, with 18 months suspended and credit for 101 days already served. Peltier was ordered to complete three years of supervised probation and a chemical dependency evaluation.
