A Maxbass man who died in a crash north of Max May 29 has been identified as Rickey Vetter, 70, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at 11:15 p.m. on U.S. Highway 83. Vetter, driving a Chevrolet Silverado, was northbound in the southbound lanes and at some point after entering Ward County, he turned around and began traveling south in the northbound lanes. The Silverado struck a Ford F250 towing a car trailer. The three occupants of the Ford, from Williston, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Vetter died at the scene, and the Highway Patrol had sought the public’s help in attempting to identify him.
