Area residents die in crashes Tuesday
Crashes have taken the lives of three area people in two separate incidents on Tuesday, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
About 9:30 a.m., a Sterling cement truck, driven by a 37-year-old Carrington man, was eastbound on 41st Street Northeast, about 4 miles south of Crary, when the right rear tires left the roadway. The truck rolled and came to rest on the driver’s side. The driver, who has not been identified at this time, sustained fatal injuries. The driver was not wearing a seat belt, according to the Highway Patrol.
About 9:45 a.m., a Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 33-year-old McClusky man, was traveling south on Fifth Avenue Northeast, about 3 miles south of McClusky. The vehicle lost control and entered the west ditch and rolled. Both the driver and a passenger, also a 33-year-old man from McClusky, died at the scene. Both occupants of the vehicle, who were not immediately identified, were not wearing seat belts, according to the Highway Patrol.
A two-vehicle injury crash occurred about 2 p.m. on Monday when a Hyundai Tucson, driven by a 69-year-old Minnewaukan man, was westbound on U.S. Highway 2. A Freightliner, driven by a 46-year-old man from Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and pulling a grain trailer was northbound on N.D. Highway 32, crossing Highway 2 onto First Avenue in Petersburg. The Hyundai struck the right side of the Freightliner and came to rest in the east ditch of First Avenue and the Freightliner came to rest in the west ditch of First Avenue. Both occupants of the Hyundai were transported from the scene by ambulance. The driver of the Hyundai was uninjured and a passenger, a 66-year-old woman from Minnewaukan, was seriously injured. All involved in the crash were wearing their seat belts, according to the Highway Patrol.
All of the crashes are under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
