9th annual Drone Camp for Kids set in Tioga
TIOGA – Tioga Area Economic Development will host the 9th Annual Drone Camp for Kids Aug. 9 from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Aug. 10 from 12-3:30 p.m. at the Tioga Community Center. This free, two-day educational event is open to students ages 10 to 17 and focuses on drone technology and artificial intelligence (AI).
The camp offers hands-on experience in Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and is designed to introduce participants to real-world applications and STEM-based career opportunities.
Campers will receive drone flight training using a curriculum developed by the University of North Dakota’s aerospace program. Topics include drone safety, operational techniques, airspace awareness and simulated mission scenarios.
New this year will be Fenworks Drone Racing and STEM Gaming.
Fenworks will join the camp for the first time to deliver an immersive drone racing experience that combines esports and STEM education will transform traditional learning into an interactive challenge.
An adult seminar will be offered on Aug. 10 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Neset Consulting. Dr. Robert Martin of Elevate Business Solutions, in partnership with UND, will lead the session, focusing on the impact of artificial intelligence across industries.
The Airport Hobby Shoppe of Minot will conduct live demonstrations featuring remote-controlled aircraft and multirotor drones. Campers and their families will have opportunities to explore both hobbyist and commercial drone models.
Campers will compete in obstacle courses, drone racing challenges and simulated rescue missions. The event will conclude with an awards ceremony recognizing top performers with prizes and certificates.
