Woman sentenced on meth charge

A Halliday woman has been sentenced to serve 70 days with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation after pleading guilty to possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

Dannyale Athelia Charging, 33, Halliday, appeared in North Central District Court on Thursday for sentencing, after entering a change of plea of guilty to one count of possession with intent to manufacture/deliver-methamphetamine-50 grams or more, a Class A felony. Two Class A misdemeanor counts of possession of a schedule IV stimulant and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia were dismissed in accordance with a plea agreement.

The charges against Charging stemmed from an ongoing investigation by the Ward County Narcotics Task Force. According to court documents, the task force executed a warrant on Charging’s apartment on March 20, 2024. A search of one of the bedrooms of the apartment located 65 grams of methamphetamine, drug distribution paraphernalia and notes tracking narcotics transactions.

Charging admitted in an interview that someone had been staying in one of the bedrooms in her apartment and they were dealing narcotics out of the residence. Charging denied knowing the names of these individuals, according to the affidavit of probable cause.

District Judge Richard Hagar sentenced Charging to five years with the DOCR, with all but 70 days suspended pending the completion of three years of supervised probation. Charging was given credit for 70 days already served, and ordered to complete a chemical dependency evaluation. Charging also was assessed $1,025 in court fines and fees.

Starting at $2.99/week.
