Surrey receives water main project loan

SURREY — The City of Surrey has been granted a $242,000 Drinking Water State Revolving Fund loan to replace a water main that runs under the railroad tracks as a part of a city-wide sanitary sewer and road replacement project, according to the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality and the North Dakota Public Finance Authority. The upgrade will help the city save on maintenance costs and improve water service.

The loan was among six loans awarded stateside since March.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency provides part of the DWSRF programs’ funding, which offers below-market interest rate loans to political subdivisions for financing projects authorized under the Safe Drinking Water Act.
