One hospitalized after downtown altercation
A 19-year-old man was hospitalized after an altercation shortly before midnight on Wednesday in downtown Minot.
According to Minot Police Department information, police responded to a report of a fight in progress between two males in the 100 block of South Main Street. Upon arrival, officers located the 19-year-old with serious head injuries. He was transported to a Minot hospital and was last reported to be in critical condition.
The second individual involved, a 45-year-old male, was located by officers in a nearby apartment, interviewed and released pending further investigation.
According to preliminary information from Minot Police, the 45-year-old male confronted the 19-year-old after a door leading to upstairs apartments had been kicked in. The confrontation continued outside, moved down the street and ultimately turned physical. Investigators have determined the 19-year-old was originally in possession of an airsoft gun while the 45-year-old male was armed with a golf club.
No charges have been filed at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
