Motorcycle association to honor Flag Day in ND
The Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association (CVMA) has announced a statewide motorcycle ride and flag exchange event in commemoration of the adoption of the American flag in 1777 on June 14, now celebrated as Flag Day.
Over the course of two days, June 12-13, the CVMA will ride to all five SCHEELS locations in North Dakota, hosting flag exchange events at each stop. Riders will overnight in Minot and gather at the Minot SCHEELS from 9:30-11:30 a.m. on Friday, June 13, before departing for Bismarck. Community members are invited to bring their worn, torn or tattered American flags and exchange them for brand-new flags at no charge.
All motorcyclists from across the region are welcome to join any leg of the ride.
All collected flags will be respectfully retired during a flag retirement ceremony on June 14 at 2 p.m. at SCHEELS Home & Hardware in Fargo. The ceremony will be conducted by the CVMA and the Fargo Memorial Honor Guard. The public is encouraged to attend.
