Minot woman arrested after investigation of drug exposure to 4-month-old infant
A Minot woman has been arrested following a drug exposure investigation involving an infant, according to the Minot Police Department.
The department reported that on May 28, Ward County Social Services requested a hair follicle test for a 4-month-old child due to suspected drug exposure. On June 3, police were notified the child tested positive for methamphetamine.
The child was residing with the mother, 35-year-old Brenna Marie-Chante Jones. After additional investigation by officers, the child was subsequently removed from the home. During questioning, Jones denied exposing the child to narcotics.
On June 5, an arrest warrant was issued for Jones for endangerment of a child or vulnerable adult, a Class C felony. That evening, Minot Police officers executed a search warrant at her residence, and Jones was taken into custody without incident.
On June 6, investigators obtained a search warrant for a hair follicle test on Jones. Test results later confirmed she also tested positive for methamphetamine.
The police department reports the investigation is ongoing.
