Injury crash involves Burke County deputy’s vehicle
BOWBELLS – A Burke County Sheriff’s Department vehicle was involved in an injury crash involving a bicyclist on Friday.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, about 3 p.m., a 34-year-old Burke County deputy was driving a marked patrol vehicle south on N.D. Highway 8, three miles south of Bowbells. A bicyclist was riding south on the fog line on the highway. The deputy moved the vehicle to the left but struck the bicyclist.
The bicycle rider, a 65-year-old woman from Bowbells, was seriously injured and transported by ambulance to a Minot hospital.
The deputy was wearing a seat belt and the bicycle rider was wearing a helmet.
Names of those involved in the crash were not released at this time.
The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
