Highway Patrol responds to severe storms, overturned semis

Extreme winds from the storms on Friday evening resulted in multiple semis overturned along Interstate 94 in Stutsman, Barnes and Cass counties, according to North Dakota Highway Patrol information.

Two semis were overturned near Eckelson Lake in Barnes County on westbound I-94, temporarily obstructing traffic. Both drivers were able to exit the semis without injury

Troopers responded immediately to ensure the safety of motorists, assist with traffic control and support emergency services in the affected areas, according to the Highway Patrol information.

The Highway Patrol has dedicated resources to assist in the response and recovery efforts following a series of severe storms and tornados that impacted southeastern North Dakota on Friday.

The Highway Patrol remains actively engaged in ongoing recovery efforts and continues to coordinate with local and state agencies to support impacted communities, according to the Highway Patrol information.

Motorists are reminded to use caution when traveling in storm-damaged areas and to follow instructions from emergency personnel.
