Distracted driving enforcement results in 754 citations
In an effort to save lives, law enforcement agencies across the state worked overtime in April for the statewide distracted driving enforcement campaign, Put the Phone Away or Pay.
A total of 754 citations were attributed to the added patrols. Of those, 371 were issued for distracted driving, 74 for other traffic citations (i.e. disobeying traffic signals, equipment violations), 180 for speeding, 19 for suspended/revoked license, three drug-related arrests and 35 citations for not wearing a seat belt.
