Average May temperature above average

This past month of May had an average temperature of 56 degrees, which is 2.6 degrees above the 118-year, long-term average of 53.4 degrees, according to Austin Kraklau of the North Central Research Extension Center, south of Minot.

The lowest temperature of the month was 33 degrees on May 17 and the high temperature was 97 degrees on May 12.

The total moisture for the month was 5.84 inches, which is 3.47 inches above the long- term average of 2.37 inches, according to Kraklau.

He said this was the most moisture accumulation in the month of May since 2013, which was 6.45-inches.
