Trial set to begin Monday in murder of missing person

Testimony in the trial of the man accused of shooting another man and hiding his body in the basement of a Minot building is set to begin in North Central District Court in Minot on Monday.
Delon Davis, 46, Minot, has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Mark McMillan, 36, Minot, whose body was located three months after being reported missing in April 2024.
According to court documents, McMillan’s cause of death was determined to be two gunshot wounds to the chest.
Jury selection began Friday morning and concluded around 3:30 p.m. with a panel of 14 jurors and alternates made up of 11 men and three women. After being sworn in, Judge Douglas Mattson informed the jury he expected the trial to run until Friday, June 23.
Davis’ attorney David Dusek and Ward County Deputy State’s Attorney Tiffany Sorgen agreed to delay the reading of the information in the case until Monday morning to be followed by opening arguments and the initial testimony from witnesses.
