The Minot Senior Coalition is gearing up for its 27th annual Salute to Seniors event to be held on Tuesday in the Minot Municipal Auditorium.

Doors will open at 9 a.m. Admission is $20 at the door and includes a hot meal catered by Homesteaders.

Each year a theme is chosen for the event. This year seniors of the Minot and surrounding area are invited to a day themed “Rockin with the Seniors.”

“Our goal is to educate and entertain our seniors. There will be vendors, door prizes, music and more throughout the day.” said Lois Zahn, Minot Senior Coalition president. “We want to celebrate our seniors and offer them a day of fun.”

Ready to rock the stage this year is Robby Vee, son of the late legendary singer Bobby Vee. Vee will be providing an afternoon of fun and classic rockabilly hits.

“Growing up in the industry with my dad I got to play alongside a lot of legends and my favorite moments are when fans of my dad will come up and tell me stories of his performances.” Vee said. “I am excited to play for the Salute to Seniors event since I grew up playing for my dad’s crowd. It will be neat to be able to play for an audience that grew up with his music and appreciate it like I do.”

The event will also feature entertainers such as local favorites the Dakota Drifters, hula hoop performers and kids from the TGU band.

“Once again our event will end at 3 p.m., shortly after the well anticipated ice cream bars are passed out in the afternoon.” Zahn said. “We look forward to seeing all of our returning seniors and any news faces that join us for an afternoon of rockin’ fun.”

Starting at $2.99/week.
