One man arrested after burglary attempt
One man has been arrested and another is at large after an attempted burglary in southwest Minot in the early morning on Friday, according to the Minot Police Department.
According to a release, officers responded to a report at 2:05 a.m. in which a female reported two males wearing masks had broken into her apartment.
An altercation occurred among the two suspects, one armed with a taser, and a third male who is an occupant of the apartment. The female intervened in the altercation with an edged weapon. One suspect male, identified as Nicholas Higgs, 18, was injured by the edged weapon and remained on scene while the second suspect fled. The identity of the second suspect is currently unknown.
Higgs was previously known by the male occupant of the apartment and was transported to a Minot hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Higgs is charged with burglary at night, a Class B felony; aggravated assault, a Class C felony; and wearing a mask in the commission of a crime, a Class A misdemeanor.
The Minot Police Department believes it to be an isolated incident.
