Minot physicians recognized for clinical instruction
GRAND FORKS – Dr. Brian Tin-Maung and Dr. James Schmidt were among faculty honored with awards recently at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine & Health Sciences.
Tin-Maung, clinical instructor of surgery, Trinity Health, was one of 10 faculty members who received the Dean’s Special Recognition Award for Outstanding Clinical Faculty, according to information from UND. Of the roughly 1,700 physicians in North Dakota, more than 1,300 have clinical faculty appointments at UND, said Dr. Marjorie Jenkins, vice president for Health Affairs and dean of the medical school.
“As a community-based institution, our School depends on the dedication and support of our clinical community faculty statewide,” Jenkins said in the release. “We are deeply grateful to these physicians, many of whom are our alumni. Like those who came before these faculty, they provide invaluable teaching, training and mentoring for our medical students and residents.”
Schmidt, clinical instructor of Family & Community Medicine, was selected as the medical school’s outstanding teacher at the Northwest Campus in Minot. Outstanding physician-teachers are selected by the graduating medical student class.
