Minot man sentenced on drug charges

A Minot man who pleaded guilty to two separate counts of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine was sentenced to serve 10 years with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Patrick Joseph St. Germaine, 42, Minot, entered his change of pleas in two separate cases in North Central District Court on May 9, pleading guilty to two Class A felony possession counts. Two Class C felony unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of schedule I hallucinogenic; and one Class A felony count of conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine-50 grams or more, were dismissed in accordance with a plea agreement.

According to court documents, the charges against St. Germaine stemmed from an ongoing narcotics investigation by the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Ward County Narcotics Task Force. The Task Force was contacted by a BCI agent on Oct. 11, 2024, regarding messages observed during a probation search on a cell phone with a number associated with St. Germaine.

The messages in question were determined to include a discussion around a narcotics transaction between the probationer and St. Germaine for the purchase of one ounce of methamphetamine for $550. The messages included detailed directions to the residence St. Germaine was staying in at the time.

According to court documents, a search warrant was executed at St. Germaine’s residence, which located 365 grams of methamphetamine, paraphernalia, 14 grams of psilocybin mushrooms and $1,893. An arrest warrant was issued for St. Germaine, who would be arrested on October 23, 2024, after a traffic stop. A search of his vehicle located $10,000, and a subsequent search of a hotel room St. Germaine was staying in and leading to the discovery of 13 additional ounces of methamphetamine.

In total, a total of $11,893 and 731 grams of methamphetamine were seized by the Ward County Narcotics Task Force.

Judge Gary Lee sentenced St. Germaine to a concurrent sentence for both possession charges of 20 years with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, first serve 10 years, to first serve 10 with credit for 176 days already served. St. Germaine is required to complete three years of supervised probation upon release, and complete a chemical dependency evaluation. He was also assessed $250 in court fines and fees.
