Memorial Day programs in Donnybrook, Kenmare set
Memorial Day programs will be held in Donnybrook and Kenmare on Monday.
The Donnybrook program, hosted by Clarence McCormack American Legion Post 195, will begin at 11 a.m. National Guard 1st Sgt. Jebediah Goodman will speak at the program. A lunch will follow.
The Kenmare community and Pioneer Village will observe Memorial Day with a 6 p.m. program and dedication of “Amy,” a lifesize bronze concrete statue of a female soldier, being placed in honor or women who have served or are currently serving in the military.
The program and dedication will be held in the memorial courtyard next to the Heidenberg-Peterson Military Museum in Kenmare’s Pioneer Village. Shelly Weppler, president of Inspiritus Foundation and a Vietnam era veteran who served with the U.S. Army Military Police in Aschaffenburg, Germany, is the guest speaker.
The dedication will be followed by the firing of three cannon volleys, a flag-disposal ceremony performed by local veterans and tours of the military museum. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be served after the program.
