Changes proposed to fees at CCC Campground

BISMARCK – The Dakota Prairie Grasslands invites public comment on proposed changes to recreation fees at the CCC Campground on the Little Missouri National Grassland, McKenzie Ranger District.

Revenue collected through recreation fees would help the grasslands purchase supplies, repair and maintain mowers, obtain campground hosts and fund additional recreation staff during the season of operation.

Not all recreation sites on the grasslands require a fee. These sites include the Summit Campground in the McKenzie Ranger District and the Whitetail Campground in the Medora Ranger District.

The proposed fees for the CCC Campground are:

– Single campground, increase in hookup fee from $10 per night to $25 per night.

– Campground group site, new fee of $60 per night. Group size, 20.

The comment period closes July 23. Comments should be sent to Little Missouri National Grassland, Attention: Alex Manard, 1905 S. Main Street, Watford City, ND 58503, or by email at SM.FS.R1_DPG@usda.gov.

Oral comments must be provided in person at the Little Missouri National Grassland, McKenzie Ranger District Office, during normal business hours, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., or by calling 227-7816.

Once public involvement is complete, these recreation fee changes will be reviewed by acitizen’s advisory committee. The committee will submit its recommendation to the Regional Forester for a final decision.

Starting at $2.99/week.
