15th Annual Independent Living Fair today in Minot
Independence, Inc. will host the 15th Annual Independent Living Fair today from 12:30-4 p.m. in The Grand Oasis, 1505 N. Broadway, in Minot.
The event is dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities by connecting them with valuable resources and services from across the region. It brings together a diverse array of agencies, organizations and businesses committed to enhancing the independence and quality of life for individuals with disabilities. The fair is a one-stop resource for attendees to learn about essential programs and services across a wide range of topics, including aging, social services, employment, education, recreation, healthcare, assistive technology, addiction recovery, veteran assistance, mental health, housing, advocacy and more.
“In a time of uncertainty, rising needs, and shrinking federal budgets, it is more important than ever for our community to collaborate and share knowledge about the resources that are available,” said Scott Burlingame, executive director of Independence, Inc., in a news release. “We’re proud to offer this free event as a way to bring together people with disabilities, their families, and service providers to ensure everyone has access to the tools and support needed to live independent and fulfilling lives.”
In addition to vendor booths and informational displays, the Independent Living Fair will feature breakout sessions at 1 p.m., “DIY: Signs of Independence, and at 3 p.m., “Credible Minds,” by First District Health Unit.
This is the first time this event has been held in the spring, having been rescheduled as a result of bad weather in November 2024.
