The City of Minot reported a city crew repaired a watermain break caused by a shear in the pipe in southwest Minot Thursday.

The break took place over the winter, and the city had rerouted temporary service until non-emergency repairs could be made, the city reported. The location was along a 20th Avenue Southwest frontage road, on the east side of Broadway, in an area where traffic was impacted by the work.

Because it was a slow leak and not an emergency situation, the city was able to give 24 hour advance notice of the shutdown of water service to two nearby buildings. The repair began at 9 a.m. and took about five hours to complete.
