A Minot man has been sentenced to time served and probation after pleading guilty to Class A felony count of promoting or directing an obscene sexual performance by a minor.

Dawson Jon Wilcox, 25, Minot, appeared in North Central District Court on Wednesday for sentencing. Wilcox entered into a plea agreement with the Ward County State’s Attorney on June 21, 2024, pleading guilty to the Class A felony while a Class C felony count of possession of certain materials prohibited was dismissed.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, Wilcox was arrested after law enforcement investigated a cybertip regarding images and videos sent over a messaging app which was determined to have originated through a Minot IP address.
