This past weekend, 220 competitors filled the Maysa Arena for the 2025 Magic City International Figure Skating Competition. Forty-five competitors from the Magic City Figure Skating Club competed, representing their community and their club, along with skaters from North Dakota, Minnesota and Saskatchewan.
During the Free Skate event, competitors performed routines they created to music. They were required to include a set number of spins and jumps into their routine.
Marin Sorum took to the ice in a beautiful red dress to display her skills with her jumps and spins. Sorum took second place in her group for Free Skate.
Maddie Kirkhammer also competed in the Free Skate event in an eye-catching sparkly purple dress. Kirkhammer displayed her skills in the areas of spins and jumps as well as the emotion she was able to express in her performance. Kirkhammer took first place in her group in the Free Skate event.
Competitors demonstrated their skills in multiple areas over the weekend. Putting in the sweat and tears paid off as evidenced in the execution of the performances by all the skaters. Events included Free Skate, Spins, Jumps, Solo Pattern Dance and many others.
The Magic City Figure Skating Club has a rich history that dates to 1970. The goal of the club is to help skaters reach their full potential by working with quality coaches. Coaches and skaters put in numerous hours in preparation for this past weekend’s event.
