Medora Masterpiece art contest: New art in Old West

MEDORA — The Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation is calling for North Dakota residents or students aged 18 or older to showcase their artistic talents.

This year, with the 60th anniversary of the Medora Musical in mind, the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation announces the inaugural year of Medora Masterpiece. This art contest is aimed at promoting local artists, creating community excitement and enhancing guest experience in Medora. This year’s contest draws on the theme of “60 Years of the Medora Musical.” Artists are encouraged to draw on their own experiences in Medora, whether that be through portraits, landscapes or abstract pieces. Artwork depicting the amphitheater, its unique setting, the scenic beauty of the Badlands, performers in their colorful attire, or the joy and anticipation of the audience can be powerful representations of the theme.

The ideal art piece will be able to connect people to Medora and specifically to the Medora Musical. The selected artist will have the opportunity to reproduce their artwork in Medora during the opening weekend of the 60th Anniversary of the Medora Musical. This opportunity will also come with an all-inclusive Medora package for the artist and one other person as well as a $1,000 commission payment.

Anyone interested in submitting an original artwork or learning more can contact the foundation. Submission deadline is March 31.

Starting at $2.99/week.
