October driest month in several years
The past month of October was the driest October since 1999, according to Austin Kraklau of the North Central Research Extension Center.
He said the total moisture for the month was 0.09 inches, which is 0.99 inches below the long-term average of 1.08 inches.
October had an average temperature of 49.1 degrees, which was 5.2 degrees warmer than the 117-year, long-term average of 43.9 degrees, according to Kraklau.
He said the lowest temperature of the month was 23 degrees on Oct. 31 and the high was 84 degrees on Oct. 10.
