Firefighters respond to garage fire in SW Minot

The Minot Fire Department responded to a garage fire in southwest Minot Wednesday, according to a news release from the City of Minot.
About 3:05 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to 510 17th Ave. SW. for a fire involving a detached garage.
Upon arrival, crews observed smoke coming from the garage and immediately initiated fire suppression efforts. Four fire engines, one ladder truck and one battalion chief responded to the scene. The fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished within minutes, minimizing damage to the property. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
October is nationally recognized as Fire Prevention Month. People should regularly check smoke alarms, maintain a clear area around heating equipment and follow safe storage practices for flammable materials that can prevent fires.
