Council approves plans of fire, police departments
The Minot Fire Department could be getting two fire engines, and the Minot Police Department is gaining a new location for job applicant testing.
The Minot City Council on Monday approved the fire department’s negotiation of the purchase of used fire engines, located in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. The council had agreed in April to spend $400,000 on a used fire engine. Eden Prairie purchased new engines and has multiple older engines for sale.
The Minot department is looking at 2006 and 2008 models with about 10-year-old engines that are the same make as trucks the department currently uses. The department reported in a memo to the council that a purchase gets it through the next few years as it builds a replacement schedule for its fire trucks.
The Minot Police Department received approval to rent, at no cost, the gymnasium at the former McKinley School from the Minot Public Schools. The school is allowing free use for the purpose of conducting physical testing for police officer applicants.
