Minot airport to rehabilitate Taxiway C
Minot International Airport has been recognized as among Allegiant Air’s fastest growing markets in 2024, according to a City of Minot news release. Trailing only a brand-new market, Minot tops the chart with numbers driven by the 2023 destination addition to Orlando-Sanford. Minot’s numbers also include Allegiant flights to Phoenix-Mesa and Las Vegas.
Statistics show 201 Allegiant Air flights filling 35,109 seats in 2023 and 375 Allegiant Air flights filling 65,083 seats in 2024.
“It’s rewarding to be starting the holiday travel season with a full year of momentum,” Airport Director Jennifer Eckman said in the release. “Our team works hard to provide the best experience for our passengers and we are thrilled to share that goal with our airline partners.”
The Minot airport also recently was awarded more than $6.14 million from the Federal Aviation
Administration to rehabilitate existing paved taxiways. The rehabilitation project for taxiways C and C3 will include mill and overlay, slope correction, replacement of associated electrical systems, edge lighting and signage, according to a news release from the City of Minot.
Taxiway C and C3 are experiencing deteriorations that include cracking, depressions and weathering and are recommended for repair according to the Pavement Condition Index report, the new release stated. Construction was completed on these taxiways in 1998 and 2002.
Federal funding availability will allow construction to move forward this fall or early in the 2025 construction season. Bids were collected in June 2024 and awarded to Strata Corp. and Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc.
Ninety percent of funding will come from the federal award. Other funding sources are $351,482 in state revenues, $216,483 from city sales tax improvement reserves and $125,000 from this year’s airport budget, the city reported.
