Jackson sentenced to 45 years for murder

The Minot man found guilty of the January 2023 murder of Timothy Chrishaod Smith, 38, Minot, at The Vegas Motel in Minot has been sentenced to serve 45 years with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
Darrion Deshon Jackson, 34, Minot, was found guilty by a Ward County jury after four hours of deliberation on March 14 on a Class AA felony count of murder, and a Class C felony count of possession of a weapon by a felon.
Jackson appeared before Judge Stacy Louser in North Central District Court on Thursday for sentencing, which was rescheduled after previously being set for Wednesday, Sept. 18. Louser sentenced Jackson to serve 45 years of a 50-year sentence with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for the murder count, with credit for 578 days already served. Jackson will be eligible for release after serving 85% of the sentence. Jackson was ordered to complete five years of supervised probation upon release. Louser also ordered a concurrent sentence of five years for the Class C felony, with credit for 578 days already served. Jackson was also assessed $125 in court fines and fees.
