Damaged cable leads to SRT service loss

An SRT Communications cable that was damaged late Monday afternoon left about 850 customers in southeast Minot without phone and internet services.

Cassidy Hjelmstad, CEO/general manager for SRT, said a third party was working in the area and hit SRT’s fiber cable. Crews were on site Monday evening to restore service. Hjelmstad said it was necessary to cut into concrete to gain access to the fiber, which then needed to be removed and replaced with new fiber.

SRT planned to gradually bring customers back on as new fiber was sliced, with full restoration anticipated to have happened Monday night.

Starting at $2.99/week.
