Dakota Cruisers of Minot is celebrating 30 years this year.

Founded in 1994, the group has around 700 members or more – lifetime members and regular members.

George Masters is one of the Dakota Cruisers founders and first president. He has served as president of the group since that time.

The group has been cruising Broadway for about four years. Members also take part in various events in Minot and the area. They raise money for scholarships for those attending local colleges in the automotive field.

When the COVID-19 pandemic occurred and many people were bored from being cooped up at home, Dakota Cruisers held a Rolling Car Show in April 2020 to help brighten people’s days. The vehicles cruised Broadway and then traveled in groups to drive past assisted living facilities, nursing homes, etc.

With the Rolling Car Show being such a success, with slightly fewer than 150 vehicles participating, the car club began cruising Broadway. Each week’s 2020 cruises were dedicated to specific groups, including law enforcement, front-line pandemic workers and educators.

The highest number in one of these cruises was 311 vehicles, according to Masters and the late Ralph Llewellyn, a Dakota Cruisers member, in a story published in The Minot Daily News.

This year, as in recent years, from spring to September, Dakota Cruisers met for its weekly Broadway cruises at the U-Haul parking lot in southeast Minot on Wednesday evenings. All types of vehicles and years are welcome to participate. The group held its 30th season finale with a number of events Sept. 13-15.

Starting at $2.99/week.
