College president charged with DUI

BOTTINEAU – The president of Turtle Mountain Community College in Belcourt was charged with driving under the influence following a traffic stop in Rolette County on Aug. 26.

Donna Lisa Brown, 63, Fargo, was pulled over while traveling south of Rolla shortly after 5 p.m. for failing to maintain her lane.

According to court documents, Brown was cited for changing lanes when unsafe, a moving violation, as well as a Class B misdemeanor for DUI .08%- or greater-first offense. State law requires such charges include a $500 fine, a chemical dependency evaluation and a 91-day drivers’ license suspension.

Brown pleaded guilty to the moving violation on Aug. 31 and paid a fine of $20. An initial appearance on the DUI charge is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 9, at the Bottineau County Courthouse before Judge Anthony Benson.
