Construction on Minot's Broadway Circle project is expected to finish in December.
The Minot City Council on Monday approved an extension of the completion deadline from Oct. 24 to Dec. 16.
Costs will not increase with the extension, but Chris Plank, National Disaster Resilience Program administrator, said the contractor found contaminated soil requiring removal as well as some other details that needed revising. The project includes a family homeless shelter and low-income housing.
Plank said the six-unit homeless shelter is 85% complete, and the 17-unit apartment complex is about 70-75% complete. He said he plans to bring forward an operator for the project for council approval in December.
