Minot Park District will be holding kayaking classes at two different locations: East Side Estates Canoe, Kayak Launch and Talbot Ct. Canoe and Kayak Launch.

“We will be taking people on the water to help them gain confidence so they can go on kayaking adventures by themselves,” said Juan Vadell, event coordinator at the Minot Park District.

The park district is offering two sessions of kayaking basics class for beginners to learn essential techniques. Two sessions of kayaking advanced class provide instruction in loading and unloading without a dock, portaging techniques, rescue scenarios and advanced safety measures.

Each session is limited to 20 spots so early registration is recommended.

The kayaking basics class dates are Aug. 13 at 5:30 p.m. at East Side Estates Canoe and Kayak Launch (register by Aug. 12 at noon) and on Aug. 20 at 5:30 p.m. at Talbot Ct. Canoe and Kayak Launch (register by Aug. 19 at noon). Kayaking advanced classes will be held Sept. 3 at 5:30 p.m. at East Side Estates Canoe and Kayak Launch (register by Sept. 2 at noon) and on Sept.10 at 5:30 p.m. at Talbot Ct. Canoe and Kayak Launch (register by Sept, 9 at noon). To register and for information contact the Minot Park District.
