Devils Lake woman dies from injuries in crash
DEVILS LAKE – One person died from injuries in a two-vehicle crash near Devils Lake Friday.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a 2020 Kenworth semitrailer with an empty flatbed trailer, driven by a 68-year-old man from Zavalia, Texas, was going east on U.S. Highway 2 in the lane adjacent to the right shoulder of the road. A 2024 Ford Edge, driven by a 70-year-old Devils Lake woman, was attempting to cross the eastbound lanes of Highway 2 to access a median crossover to travel west from a private driveway. The semi driver steered left to avoid a collision but was unable to do so and struck the other vehicle. The driver of the Ford Edge was transported by ambulance to CHI St. Alexius Hospital in Devils Lake, where she died from injuries sustained in the crash. The semi driver sustained minor, superficial injuries. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts. The crash occurred at 9:58 a.m.
The names of those involved in the crash will be released later, pending family notifications. The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
