Dakota Hope event to feature human trafficking survivor
Dakota Hope Clinic, a pregnancy help center with locations in Minot, Tioga and Bottineau, will hold “Hope Unleashed” fundraising banquets in each community in September. Attendees will hear the harrowing and inspiring story of guest speaker Jean Davis, who escaped nearly 20 years of human trafficking.
The banquet schedule is: Bottineau, Sunday, Sept. 15, Cobblestone Inn; Minot, Monday, Sept. 16, North Dakota State Fair Center; and Tioga, Tuesday, Sept. 17, Tioga Community Center.
Davis will share her uplifting story of survival through abuse, abandonment and self-destructive behaviors. Her journey to recovery began at a pregnancy resource center, where she discovered the love of God, which drastically altered her life and that of her son. Jean went on to earn an associate degree in biblical theology, authored the book “Breaking Chains Against All Odds,” and now serves as the executive director of a pregnancy resource center in Vermont. She has two children, one of whom will briefly share the podium with her.
In addition, guests will hear from young women whose lives have been transformed by the care and support found at each of the Dakota Hope Clinic locations. The banquets will highlight the community’s support over the past 11 years, enabling Dakota Hope to reach more than 2,200 clients since its opening in 2013.
Dakota Hope Clinic offers free and confidential services, including pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, options consultations, prenatal vitamins and holistic support during and after challenging pregnancies. Clients can earn diapers and other infant and toddler supplies by completing lessons on pregnancy, parenting and life skills. Additional support services include programs for parents who receive a prenatal diagnosis and for women traumatized by past abortions or abuse.
Banquet reservations are required by Sept. 6 for the adult-only fundraisers, and seating is limited. Table hosts are being recruited to invite others to sit at their tables. There is no cost to be a table host or to attend. Individual reservations are encouraged and do not require an invitation from a table host. Contact Dakota Hope for more information.
