The Minot Police Department has arrested a suspect in the investigation into the murder of Mark Ramon McMillan, according to information released on Thursday.

Delon Evan Davis, 46, Minot, was arrested for the murder of McMillan at 11 a.m. on Thursday and transported to the Ward County Jail.

This is the latest development in the investigation, which arose after McMillan's body was found in the basement of a Main Street South business on July 2. McMillan had been reported missing after falling out of contact with family members in early April.

"This case was extremely complex, especially with the number of anonymous tips we received," Investigations Commander Capt. Dale Plessas said. "Our investigators spent countless hours investigating them. Thank you to everyone who provided us with information that helped our investigators piece this together and bring the family closure."

According to court records, Davis is being charged with murder - intentional or knowing - adult victim, a Class AA felony; tampering with physical evidence, theft-possession of a firearm, ammunition, explosive device, both Class C felonies; and providing false information to law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor.

Davis faces a mandatory minimum sentence of four years imprisonment without the possibility of parole for the murder charge. His initial appearance has not yet been scheduled in the murder case based on court records.

Davis was on pretrial release for two active cases for theft and animal cruelty charges, which have been ordered for trial following a hearing on July 10 regarding pretrial services violations. The trials in both cases are scheduled to begin Jan. 28, 2025.
