One person dies from injuries in two-vehicle crash
A Bismarck man died from injuries received in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 83, four miles south of Minot, on Sunday.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander, driven by the 68-year-old Bismarck man, was southbound on the highway and began to slow in the driving lane to check on a vehicle stopped on the west shoulder.
A 2014 Grand Cherokee Jeep, driven by Geoffrey Vannerson, 36, Underwood, was also southbound on the highway and rear ended the slowing Mitsubishi. The Jeep came to rest in the center ditch and the Mitsubishi came to rest on the shoulder.
The driver of the Mitsubishi was taken to a Minot hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The passenger in the Mitsubishi, a 63-year-old woman from Orland, California, and
Vannerson sustained minor injuries in the crash.
The names of the occupants of the Mitsubishi were not released at this time. All involved in the crash were wearing their seatbelts.
This crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
