Global outage causes local flight delays
No commercial flights were departing from Minot International Airport Friday morning due to a global software system shut down affecting the airlines, the City of Minot reported. Most flights were back in operation by late morning, according to the airport. An Allegiant flight to Orlando was reported to be the only canceled flight.
The airfield and terminal remained open. However, several flights were delayed.
A statement from the Federal Aviation Administration said, “The FAA is closely monitoring a technical issue impacting IT systems at U.S. airlines. Several airlines have requested FAA assistance with ground stops for their fleets until the issue is resolved.”
