Souris Valley United Way (SVUW) has announced it will be granting $280,977 to local organizations, with funding distributed to 10 agencies starting in February 2025.
The organizations receiving funds are Catholic Charities, Companions for Children, Domestic Violence Crisis Center, F5 Project, Minot Area Homeless Coalition, Minot Commission on Aging, Minot Literacy Volunteers, Lutheran Social Services Senior Companions, Northern Plains Children’s Advocacy Center and Youthworks.
In April, a Community Impact Panel composed of community members met to review all grant applications. The panel listened to presentations from organizations about their work, funding requests and plans for the funds. Based on the panel’s input, the SVUW board made the final decisions on grant allocations.
“We are thrilled to support these incredible organizations that make a significant impact in our community,” said Christy Miller, SVUW executive. “Our grant process ensures that funds are directed where they are needed most and can do the most good.”
In addition to granting funds, SVUW runs its internal programs – Backpack Buddies, Dolly Parton Imagination Library, Magic City Blessing Bank and Wheels for Work, a new collaboration with Minot Automotive Company. Through these programs, SVUW serves more than 2,000 individuals each month.
