Residents of Minot Artspace Loft in downtown Minot were relocated to alternate housing on Monday so the building can be structurally inspected.

The Minot Fire Department was dispatched to the building at 3 Main Street South for reports of a fire alarm and visible structural damage in an apartment on Monday about 1:15 p.m.

Firefighters arrived and performed an initial inspection of the apartment and determined there was no fire. They discovered visible cracks in the floor, ceiling and walls of the apartment unit.

Subsequently, an inspector and engineer with the City of Minot came to inspect the apartment. To err on the side of caution, until a structural engineer can inspect the building, all residents of the building were relocated by Metroplains Management. No injuries were reported.
