Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center to present opera

WASHBURN – “Death of Meriwether Lewis: Transfiguration at Grinder’s Stand,” a new one-act opera, will be presented on Saturday, June 15, at 3 p.m. in the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center, Washburn. The program is free and open to the public. Complimentary refreshments will be available.

The opera explores the last days of Meriwether Lewis’ life in Tennessee. Cast members are artistic director of Dakota Pro Musica Jason Thoms, New York City performing artist Kristopher Jean and North Dakota State University assistant professor of voice Karisa Templeton accompanied by a chamber ensemble from the Missouri Valley Chamber Orchestra.

The performance is co-sponsored by the State Historical Society of North Dakota and the Northern Plains Heritage Foundation.
