Incumbent leads in county commission race

Incumbent Ward County Commissioner Shelly Weppler led candidates in the primary race for the commission in Tuesday's unofficial election results.

Weppler received 5,277 votes or 38.8% while Jedidiah Rader received 4,610 votes or 33.89%. Five write-in candidates shared 3,715 votes or 27.3%. The tally of those write-ins will be completed later this week. Running as write-ins were Jim Rostad, Ron Merritt, Miranda Schuler, Ashley Gulke and Zach Raknerud. Four of the write-in candidates will advance to the general election if they receive at least 300 votes.
