Miranda Schuler formally announced on Wednesday a write-in campaign for Ward County Commission on the June 11 primary ballot.
Two candidates, Jedidiah Rader of Ryder and incumbent Shelly Weppler, have filed for two of the three seats to be filled on the board. The race won't be decided until the November election, but write-in candidates could advance from the primary. A minimum of 300 write-in votes are needed.
"In a democracy, every voice matters, and every vote counts. It’s crucial that Ward County residents have a variety of options when selecting their representatives. I’m stepping up to offer a choice, dedicated to serving the best interests of our residents, with a wealth of previous public service experience under my belt," Schuler said.
Schuler, an insurance agent, served on the Minot City Council from 2014-2018 before serving four years on the Minot School Board. She ran for Minot mayor in 2022.
To write in a candidate, a voter must write the name on the ballot and fill in the circle to indicate a vote for the candidate.
