The suspect in a Nov. 17, 2023 ,shooting that resulted in the death of a Minot man was arrested in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on Thursday.

Quantdre Octavious Mersier, 30, Minot, was arrested by the Fort Wayne Police Department with assistance from the U.S. Marshal Service. He was sought on a warrant of arrest for the Class AA felony murder of Ansu Kamara, 29, Minot.

Mersier had been at large since the first warrant for attempted murder was issued before being upgraded after Kamara died a week after the shooting.

Mersier had applied for indigent defense services and has been represented by court-appointed attorneys Rina Morales-Holmes and Kyle Craig. A motion to withdraw from the case was filed on Tuesday, which was followed by a response from the Ward County State's Attorney. No order has been issued regarding the motion and no district court judge has been assigned to the case as it was inactive while Mersier was a fugitive from justice.
